March 2024 Spotlight Athlete

🌟 Congratulations to our MARCH SPOTLIGHT ATHLETE, Amanda Nicholson! 🌟

Amanda has been with us for a little over a year and quickly became a dedicated 6am-er! We love having her in class because she always comes in with such a cheerful, positive attitude! 

We are so impressed by her commitment to stay active and healthy throughout her pregnancy! You are such a strong mama already! So excited for your next adventure and very thankful to have you as part of our community, Amanda! ☺️

– Occupation?

Business Intelligence Consultant for COUNTRY Financial. I gather data and create visualizations/reports, but I’m also working on becoming a data engineer.

– Tell us something we don’t know about you?

I have an adorable corgi named Kevin! I love to travel and experience different cultures/scenery.

– How long have you been CrossFitting?

I started at the beginning of January 2023, so a little over a year.

– Main reason for joining CrossFit XLT?

I wanted to find a gym with a great atmosphere, one that would challenge me, and allow me to focus on both cardio and weights. The competitive aspect of it is also great because I miss that from my college days.

– What did you think after completing your first CrossFit WOD?

I’m going to be sore tomorrow…

I hadn’t realized how out of shape I had become from not lifting and only doing cardio for almost a year. So this made me even more thankful I joined CrossFit when I did!

– How has CrossFit XLT changed your life?

CrossFit XLT introduced me to SO many great people. I am so thankful for the great friendships I have made here and all of the coaches’ genuine interest in seeing me meet my fitness goals. CrossFit has also helped me stay consistent in attending workouts, put me in great shape and helped me stay fit through my pregnancy so far.

– What results have you seen so far since coming to CrossFit XLT?

Stronger muscles and toning! I also love that I have learned how to do so many different movements, having a variety of workouts makes it even more fun!

– What is your future CrossFit Goal?

Someday I want to participate in a competition.

I’d also like to be able to do toes to bar and kip someday as well 😊

– Favorite movement(s)?

I’ve always liked squatting (back squat is my favorite) because that is what I have done a lot through my athletic career. I have really enjoyed learning to row and doing cleans!

– Words of Wisdom for someone wanting to get into CrossFit?

Do it! I was intimidated at first by all of the new movements and gym equipment that I hadn’t used before, but the coaches and other athletes are all a great help and very encouraging. The classes are fun and give you a great workout at the same time!
