Congratulations, Carl Kessler! π₯³
Carl is the epitome of hardworking and dedicated, yet humble and laidback! We love seeing you at the 4pm class every day! Keep up the great work. Murph is right around the corner! Letβs see you hit that sub-50 minute time again πͺπΌ
*Tell us a little bit about you*
– Occupation?
Regional Sales Manager for Syngenta Crop Protection
– Tell us something we donβt know about you?
I have become ordained to marry a few people that are close to me. (my gym language is not a reflection of my ordination, especially in a terrible workout)
– How long have you been CrossFitting?
I have been doing Crossfit for around 10 years or so.
– Main reason for joining CrossFit XLT?
I joined due to my wife, Amanda being so involved in this gym, but I did a lot of the workouts at home in the beginning because I didnβt like to be in a gym setting, or so I thought.
– What did you think after completing your first CrossFit WOD?
After my first WOD, I was exhausted and also motivated. Very humbling, and it continues to be almost each day at the gym.
– How has CrossFit XLT changed your life?
Crossfit has been a key supplemental part of my physical and mental health. I enjoy being very active, and the more active I am the better I feel in all aspects of life. One of the other great attributes of crossfit and this gym specifically, is the comradery, the natural friendships, and overall team/family environment that is in and around this community. Even Tony!
– What results have you seen so far since coming to CrossFit XLT?
Consistency with the way I feel, and I have advanced by learning almost all of the movements, at least the ones that I can do. I have somewhat plateaued given my age and overall time that I can commit, but itβs a good spot in my mind, and I keep looking to find some minor growth in movements and the overall benchmark WODs.
– What is your future CrossFit Goal?
My future goal is to do the Murph under 50 minutes again (Partitioned without vest) in the near term. Then eventually be able to complete it with the vest and non-partitioned.
– Words of Wisdom for someone wanting to get into CrossFit?
The 4 o clock class is the best for many reasons, first of all. But the best advice I can give is to be open to coaching from the coaches as well as advice from other members. This will not only keep you from getting injured, but will make you a better athlete. And most importantly, keep showing up with a good attitude and a non-judgmental outlook. Nobody is judging you here, except yourself. That is who you are truly competing with.
